Durango

Unfortunately, friends and family, nor I or Naomi had taken any photos of the campus or town. Which is unfortunate because it was one of the most pristine areas I have ever been to. Its situated in the farthest reaches of the state. About 30 miles from the Four Corners area at 6,680ft in the southern Rockies. The campus has a 360 deg vista of mountain peaks sitting above the valley where lush fields of wheat and hay and some prized cattle are spread out for miles. The town was...quaint. Its geared for the fart smelling hippies from Boulder and San Francisco (Ca in general) to come and not go with out thier Starbucks, Cold Stone and of course, the yuppie outlets like Banana Rep, Eddie Bouer (sp?) etc. I was thrilled to see two small breweries though on the same block: Potential employment?

The school did an atrocious job at selling itself. If I hadnt already researched it extensively to know it was a good fit and not had the perspicacity to dialogue with Deans, Id walk away scoffing, kicking intelectual dust in its face. But, it has more than the eye sees. The program I want to go into has an incredible variety and a Dean whos heart you cant but admire and want to emulate. Another thing was that I was amidst 18-19 year olds whose bodies are redolent with hormones and whos livers are dying to have thier limits tested.

All said and done, if id had more sleep I might be a bit more enthused. I was running on less than 4 hours of sleep in two days and driving for hours! We did sleep in the back of a friends truck: Cold, cold, cold and really creepy. Oh...and Naomi removed my coffee cup before the trip so I had to drink scalding hot tea out of the kettle; searing all nerve endings in my lips to nil. a very nerve racking tunnel.
Thats it!
Thanks!

Wow. What vistas. What scope for thought. Steve would have loved scalding his sips with hot tea...he does every morning. :) Mom
